THE WORLD OF PAT LOTITO

In an unusual twist, Pat Lotito, local musician and playwright who is well-known for her remarkable talent in musical direction and composing musicals, has written a play of poetry that is to be performed with no music. “Words Without Music – the World of Pat Lotito” is poetry shaped like a play that is directed by Gerard Moses and features the stellar cast of Joe Lotito, Bill Molesky , Aubry Ludington and Tamaralee Shutt . The performances will be held on Friday and Saturday, July 15 and 16 at 8:15 , and on Sunday, July 17 at 2:00 at Jazz Central, 441 East Washington Street . Tickets are $12.00. This event is partially funded through an Individual Artist Grant and a Decentralization Grant administered by the Cultural Resources Council.

Additional information: Pat Lotito is a composer, lyricist, poet, author, innovator, wife, mother and friend. A Post Standard Woman of Achievement, Pat is equally adept at public relations, corporate management and putting people at ease! Because of her devotion to music, teaching and inspiring, thousands have gained confidence on and off the stage and hundreds have gone on to theatrical careers.

Pat's most resounding achievements – her full length musical theatre works – span a creative process of over twenty-five years. In 1980, Pat wrote the book, score and lyrics for YES! which had its premiere at the Trinity Theatre in New York City as well as a production at Salt City . THRONE with music and lyrics by Pat and book by Robert Fitzsimmons, had its birth at Salt City in 1986. 1990 brought about the creation of Pat's musical adaptation of Alice in Wonderland – ALICE IN W A NDERLAND. With the book, score and lyrics by Pat and additional lyrics by Barry Shulman , it has become a local favorite and was most recently revived in 1998. Written with Ken Prescott, A DICKENS OF A CHRISTMAS, still produced annually, is Pat's musicalization of Dickens' timeless, A Christmas Carol . It has become an annual tradition at Salt City and has enjoyed productions in Palm Springs , CA (Desert Award Nomination) and in several other states. Pat wrote the music and lyrics for BEAUTY AND THE BEAST – a children's musical first performed in Ossining , NY . In collaboration with Larry Luttinger , Pat created CANDLE IN THE WINDOW , a one-act opera. Pat has spent two summers as the resident composer for children's musicals at the Berkshire Theatre Festival wherefrom many original songs have emerged and found their way into her various projects.
